Mr. Nhem Chhieng Ly Story

Mr. Nhem Chhieng Ly, currently living in Tuk Vil commune, Sa Ang district. He was diagnosed
HIV positive in 2007 and he married to a woman who is now still HIV negative. He told us that
he use condom to prevent HIV transmission to his wife. His wife runs a small business like
selling fruits and grocery in front of the house. He is now 48 years old and he got 3 children who
are all HIV negative. The family received support of $100 grant from COMPED after training on
chicken raising, Mr. Chhieng Ly raised chicken with the support from his wife and children. He
is successful raised chicken and pigs and could generate the income of 200,000 riels = USD 50
each time he sold them.
We did the Battery of Life with him during the visit. He gave score 9 for livelihood, score 6 for
health, score 10 for human rights/legal and score 10 for emotional happiness.
They thanked all donors who provided fund support to the CHEC HBC program and requested to
continue funding to support the PLHIV in livelihood activities.
